Applying to College

There is lots to consider when applying to college. View the College Applications Guidelines for information on where to apply and application deadlines.

When applying to Private or Out of State colleges and universities, it is important to be aware of their specific requirements and application process.  Many of these colleges use the Common Application.  Students will need letters for recommendations from teachers and a counselor, so please plan ahead (at least 2 weeks before your application is to be mailed).

SAT/ACT Information

Students must take the SAT Reasoning/ACT and all SAT Subject Exams by December of their senior year. There is usually no exception to this, except for colleges who offer rolling admission.

Financial Aid/Scholarships

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is available January 1st and is due March 2nd.  All seniors must complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. A Cal Grant GPA Verification form must also be sent to receive any Cal Grant awards.

There are thousands of dollars available in scholarship money!  Be sure to check out Scholarship Opportunities.
